Mount Diablo Cyclists and Friends of Joe Shami –
Joe’s memorial service and ride has been organized and we look forward to celebrating his amazing life with his friends and our cycling community.
Special thanks to Trek Bicycle for their incredible support for Joe by greatly assisting with this event. Joe was less than 1,300 miles away from reaching his goal of 100,000 miles on the Trek Project One bike he purchased back in 2003.
We look forward to seeing you on May 1, 2021 at the parking lot in front of Trek Bicycle Alamo, 180 C Alamo Plaza, Alamo, CA. The memorial will start at 8:30 am and will last approximately one hour. There will be several speakers and many photos and memories shared.
Guests wishing to cycle after the service are encouraged to ride in groups of no more than 8 people. For ride suggestions, including a way to reach Mount Diablo State Park, routes will be available after the service. Mechanics will be on hand for any minor adjustments or bicycle equipment questions.
We request all those attending wear a mask and practice safe social distancing. It’s important to respect all those in attendance so that everyone feels safe and comfortable.
Please RSVP as soon as possible and invite all of the people in your group/club and friends, even those not on Facebook. We would like to know how many people plan to attend.
Feel free to contact us at mountdiablocyclists@yahoo.com if you have any questions.
Rest In Peace
Joe Shami
