What’s up HCC!

Today was our first joint ride with our sister club, the Benicia Bicycle Club (BBC). We had a great turnout of 19 people.
After exchanging greetings, we headed out to downtown Mill Valley and started our warm-up climb (It was 47 degrees at the start) at the two mile mark. Within 45 minutes, the temps warmed to a nice 57 degrees.

On the first leg of the climbs, we had Kenny, Steve S., Jerry, Brett, Kathy, Jaime, and Max leading the pack on Marion and Panoramic Hwy all the way to the Pantoll Campground Ranger Station. Good job!

We took a short regroup before descending about 4 miles towards Stinson Beach. This part of the ride was exceptionally beautiful due to the fact that the view towards the ocean was clear. Yay! No fog today!

We had our planned rest stop in Stinson where some got there coffee fix and snacks. We also saw a fleet of Lamborghinis roll by on Hwy 1. I mentioned to Paulo that we are the real deal since we are using real engines to get ourselves up mountains, lol!

We proceeded along the flat stretch of Hwy 1 where we formed a pace line. I was leading and then Steve S. and Chris B. pulled ahead to take a turn. They held it all the way to the base of BoFax where the rest of us caught up.

Now, we come to the second set of climbs. BoFax is a 4 mile climb that seems to go on forever, lol! Max and Steve S. pulled away first with Kenny, Jerry and Brett on their wheels. We had another regroup at the top and then proceeded to the Seven Sisters (seven step stair climbs) on West Ridgecrest Blvd where you can see the ocean for miles on your right side.
Everyone enjoyed the spectacular views on this segment with perfect weather.

With one more regroup at the Pantoll Station. we descended Hwy 1 where you can pick up great speeds.
We ended the ride with the temp up to 70 degrees spring weather with 35 miles and over 4,000 feet of solid climbing. At the end, Kenny and James led an extended ride out to the famous Hawk Hill for some more fun with 55 miles and over 5700 feet of climbing.

Thanks everyone for joining us! It was picture perfect day with a great group of riders. A big thanks to James and Ron M. for sweeping. We also want to welcome some new riders including Adam and Max. Hope to see you on future rides!
